Radiation Safety Officer Refresher

This course is for Radiation Safety Officers, Assistant Radiation Safety Officers and others who need a technical refresher course. This course also can be used to provide refresher to radiation safety to those who are involved in the use of radioactive materials. Some prior knowledge of algebra and science is desirable. Topics to be covered include a review of radiation fundamentals, regulations, instruments, licensing,amendments, audits, dosimetry, training, wastes, decommissioning, emergency response, and maintaining a radiation safety program. An optional questions and answer session will be held after the first day of training.

This course has been approved for 16 Continuing Education units by the American Academy of Health Physics.

LOCATION: The course will be held at the Holiday Inn Express in Newport Beach, California. The hotel is located on the beautiful Pacific Coast Highway and is convenient to many southern California attractions including Disneyland. the address of the hotel is 2300 W. Coast Highway, Newport Beach, CA 92663. Their phone number is 949-722-2999. The hotel is offering a special rate of $140 per night for attendees. (June is the high season for a Beach Hotel). This rate may not be available if the room is booked by a travel agent. Also, you should reserve your room several weeks in advance directly with the front desk and mention that you will be attending our course. If the front desk is not aware of the special rate, ask to speak to Charles Taft. This rate includes free parking, high speed internet connection and a continental breakfast.
