Radiological Terrorism, Accidents and Emergencies ($800)

Available by special arrangement. Contact us for a quote.

With the recent concern about "dirty bombs" and increasing concerns about nuclear or radiological terrorism, many are concerned that the U.S. may be subject to a radiological attack. In spite of these concerns, however, information on the actual risks posed by such events and on how to respond is not yet widespread.

In this course, we will begin with a brief refresher on basic radiation safety concepts. We will then discuss the health physics implications of a radiological attack, including reviewing calculations of dose rates and subsequent risks of dirty bombs and fallout from overseas. We will close by discussing current strategies for responding to such events and looking at some of the many references and resources available to learn more about these topics.

Those who will benefit from this class include public health officials, regulators, emergency response and planning professionals, emergency medical staff, and radiation safety professionals who may be called upon to respond to radiological events.
